Martins River Barrel Pavilion – 2012
The client wanted a unique backdrop for her son’s wedding being held at Oak Island resort.
She chose our barrel pavilion design which we temporarily erected at Oak Island resort on a point of land surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean before permanently installing in her backyard.
Some of the barrel pavilion’s unique features are the curved rafters with sweeping rafter tails, ornate metal tie where the rafters join, gunstock posts with double curved lower eave archways and custom metal boots to anchor the posts.
The gable ends are cantilevered 3’ to help protect the traditional mortise and tenon joinery fastened with oak pegs.
The structure is finished with a natural weathered wood stain.
We installed a tongue and groove ceiling when we finished raising the pergola in the owner’s garden.
