Timber Lamp Posts in Eastern Hemlock

The clients came to Wise Owl's shop with a sketch of the lamp posts they wanted built — three singles and one double in all, with posts seven feet tall.

Straightforward clean lines on the post cap with a 45° recess just below. Sweeping curves on the horizontal beams and knee braces give character to these architectural posts.

There is underground wiring which runs adjacent to the circular driveway. PVC conduit runs up the back of the posts and a hole was drilled for the onion lamp fixtures to be connected.

A proper electrical box pocket was chiseled out behind the place where the fixture was to be mounted.

Custom Wise Owl Joinery boots and black locust pegs added the final touches to this wonderful project.

Update: A couple of years later, we provided a timber frame porch and mantlepieces for this client.
