Timber frame fence around swimming pool
Built for Ken and Laura Barrett, Port Williams, NS — Summer 2006
The Barretts were
installing an in-ground swimming pool in their backyard when they approached
Wise Owl Joinery Co. about building a fence.
The 200-foot fence they needed had to provide privacy and safety, and have two gateways along its length.

Ken
and Laura knew they wanted something totally different. We came
up with a triple rail system which included over 600 painted bars on
the top section.
Careful attention was put into the spacing of the piers and having the ground well packed before pouring concrete and placing the custom metal boots for the posts.
The bottom rail was drilled with a series of holes for any moisture to escape.
The landscapers came in afterwards to create the stone wall.
The
combination of pickets, spindles, finial tops and Sansin stain in charcoal
grey created a dramatic fence.
Several of the Barretts’ neighbours are pondering having fences
of their own built by Wise Owl.
