Eastern White Cedar Dovetail Sauna House
Georgian Bay – Winter of 2003
From time to time, Richard gets called to go up to Northern Timberhouse in Minden, Ontario.

This trip he was contracted to build a cedar sauna house. The corners were full dovetails. The door and a window have vertical slots cut out where hardwood splines will be let in and secured to the rough bucks to allow for log settling.
Two funky porch posts with wild braces were added to support the embellished cantilevered plates.
After the lots were assembled on site, log jam chinking was applied on both sides of the wall for a tight seal.
Local craftsman Craig Russell was with Richard every step of the way.
